Hey friends! It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. The last few months have been rough on me mentally. But, I’m starting to feel better. I want to slowly resume posting on this blog. I think a gradual return to posting regularly here will be better than going full force right away. So, as my first post back and my first post for the new year, I want to share 3 of my reading goals for 2021.
- My official Goodreads Reading Challenge is set at 25 books this year. In the back of my mind, I want to get to 50 books, but it’s been a while since I actually read that much in a year so I’m setting my goal lower than that since I’m more likely to reach 25. My goal in 2020 was 20 books and I just barely completed that before the end of the year. 25 books this year is an attainable but slightly challenging number.

2. My second goal is to complete a reading challenge that has specific prompts. I have a spreadsheet for tracking my reading this year that goes more in depth than Goodreads. I got the template from Book Riot and have customized it a bit. The template included Book Riot’s “Read Harder” Challenge but I decided to add a couple more including the “Popsugar 2021 Challenge” and the “Beat the Backlist” challenge. These reading challenges are there to help motivate me to read as well as challenge me in regards to what I read during the year. I want to complete at least one of the ones I’m participating in, although ideally I’d complete them all. I’m allowing myself to have books count for prompts on multiple lists. Basically, one book could work for one prompt from each reading challenge. I’m doing this because I have multiple reading challenges and I don’t want to overwhelm myself.
3. My third and final goal for my reading is keeping a reading journal. I’m including my reading journal in the bullet journal I’m already using to make this a bit easier. I open/use my bullet journal almost daily so I’ll be seeing the reading/bookish spreads I create. It’ll help me keep track of things visually and be a fun way to stay creative throughout the year.
