Hey friends! Sorry that there wasn’t a Top 5 wednesday post last week, I had just finished sorority recruitment and had to get caught up on school work. But this week’s topic is books that didn’t have booktube/bookstagram’s influence on me reading it. Basically books that I found and read without bookish social media to influence me.
1. Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas
I honestly don’t remember where I first heard of this book but I do know that I found booktube and bookstagram after reading it. I got really curious about it online and I might have looked it up on youtube for some reason. But that’s what introduced me to booktube.
2. Percy Jackson by Rick Riordan
I first read Percy Jackson back in High School. My boyfriend at the time got me into reading them and I really enjoyed the story. I still love re-reading this series today, especially when I’m in a reading slump.
3. All the light we cannot see by Anthoney Doerr
I think I had some vague knowledge of the existence of this book, but I read this for my sorority’s book club a few months ago. I loved it and definitely recommend it if you enjoy WW2 historical fiction books.
4. A Woman is No Man by Etaf Rum
This was another book club choice in my sorority’s book club. I LOVED this book so much. It was so impactful and intense. I actually have a book review for this book here.
5. The Last Girl on Earth by Alexandra Blogier
This is one that you probably have never heard of. Well, it’s a sci fi book about a girl who is the last human on Earth after an alien race takes over. It was a pretty fun read, and I’m not normally someone who reads sci fi lol. I did really enjoy it and I think I found it at a bookstore one day and thought the synopsis was intriguing.
Those were my top 5 for this week! What books have you read that didn’t have social media’s influence on you?
