When I transferred to my university, I decided to go through sorority recruitment. I had just moved to a whole new city and knew absolutely nobody. I figured that joining a sorority would be an amazing way to make friends, and that turned out to be completely true.
My mom had told me that the bond of sorority sisters is something that is lifelong, even if you haven’t seen your sisters in many many years. She told me about all the fun things she got to do because she joined Greek Life. I wanted to experience that sisterly bond that my mom told me about. I didn’t totally know what being in a sorority would be like, but I was willing to try it out.
It turned out to be one of the best decisions of my time in college so far.
Now, you’re probably wondering what sorority I ended up joining. At my university, there are four College Panhellenic Council (CPC) sororities: Delta Delta Delta (Tri-Delta), Delta Zeta, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Alpha Gamma Delta. The process was a bit stressful, buuuut I did get a bid that I immediately accepted.
I ended up going Delta Zeta!!
Being a Delta Zeta has been an amazing experience so far. This is my first full semester as an active member and it’s a decision that I will never regret. Sororities aren’t just for 4 years, they’re lifelong. And I will always have this special connection with my sisters and I think that’s a beautiful thing.
